I was watching the boys at the playground yesterday, and had taken my eyes off of James, when I heard loud "splat". I looked over, and James was lying face down in the gravel spread eagle by the side of the slide. I could tell from how he was positioned and the loudness of the splat that he had just attempted to jump off mid way up the slide (at least 4 feet up) where there's a slight bump that they can stop and stand on. So I went over to help him out and give him a hug.
"Did that hurt?"
"Yeah" (small sob)
"Well don't do that then, silly boy!"
"Why?"
"Because it's too high up."
James laughing, "Yeah, me do small jump!"
"Okay, good. You do small jumps."
Turn around to see where Nate's at, and I hear the sound of something hitting the gravel again. I look back, and there's James on the ground again, except this time he aced the jump and landed it on his feet.
(I tried to catch him on camera doing it again, but the one other time he did it, I was too slow to catch him.)

I'm not sure how it started, but it started a couple of weeks ago, the boys have started saying "Thank you!" in a cheerful voice whenever we punish them.
"James, don't put your spoon in your milk, or I will take you cup away."
James puts his spoon in his milk.
I take his cup away.
James, "Thank you!"
(grrrrrrrrr)

They do this pretty much constantly every time we go to the playground.

We left Nate on his own for quiet time, while James, Sara, and I all had a nap. When we woke up, we couldn't find Nate. We looked in every room on every floor. We looked outside. We even double checked his bunk bed, because he sometimes completely curls up under his blanket. We were just starting to get worried when we heard cries of outrage coming from the playroom where James had started playing. It turns out Nate had fallen asleep inside one of the cardboard boxes we let him play with, he had even closed the lid up over himself, and he wasn't impressed to wake up to find his brother taking apart his carefully constructed Duplo set up.

James is definitely getting bigger.
James is definitely getting bigger. He's now in underwear full time, and the other day, when his shorts didn't fit him, we tried them on Nate, and they fit just fine at the waist, so we may swap around their shorts. Also, he went from having never tried climbing up the slide (the part you're supposed to slide down) at the playground, to climbing up so fast that if Nate gets on before him, he actually climbs over Nate and beats him to the top.

My family and I took a road trip this summer to Seattle to visit our good friends the Iflands. This is the highlight reel. (Using Google Circles as a filter, I posted lots of photos as we went to a select few I felt comfortable spamming with constant daily updates. If you were one of those poor souls, these will likely all be repeats.)
