We were playing I spy with my little eye as family at the dining room table. We'd been playing multiple rounds, but James hasn't really had a turn because we're playing guesser goes next. Finally James gets a turn. He looks around intently and calls out something purple. As a house with all boys we don't have many purple objects. We guess and guess, but to no avail. We ask for a hint. James, "I was looking in the sunroom." Nate gets up from the table to investigate. James, "I so sneaky, I Iook at the sunroom to trick you." We finally get him to tell us the actual room it's in. It's in the living room. We search based on the angle he can see from. Nothing. Finally we ask him to show us. He gets up, walks around a wall that was blocking his sight line, opens a drawer in our coffee table and pulls out a purple building block. Triumphant, "Here it is!" Guess we need to be clearer on the rules.
"James, what did you learn in Sunday School today?"
"James, what did you learn in Sunday School today?"
James, "We learn about Jesus die on the cross again. He died so many times."

James was complaining that there was something in his mitts.

James was complaining that there was something in his mitts. I asked him what it was. He said "summer things". I told him to shake it out. He did. Next time I'll seek more clarification.

There are some days where it's more clear than others that I'm the father of three boys.

There are some days where it's more clear than others that I'm the father of three boys. This was the middle-born's handy work (the picture doesn't really give you a feel for how wet the mud was). He was quite pleased with his 3-year old self. At least it's a sign of spring?

Nate shared what he learned in preschool with us at the dinner table today. Apparently the girl from Korea taught him how to say "butt" in Korean. I guess some interests are universal...

James, "Yeah."
Nate, "Is it because I win so many games?"
James, "Yeah."
Nate, "That's because God gave me wisdom."
(but not humility...)

Making birthday cards with the boys.
Making birthday cards with the boys. Feeling pretty crafty. I used Sara's Cricut to make the shapes. They try and get you to purchase their pre-made shapes, but I managed to overlap enough shapes to make a Lego minifigure. They didn't even have a triangle shape, so I had to use some upside down 'v's for the slope of the body and a letter 'c' for the hands.

James has a bit of a routine where after he's tucked in for bed, he asks to go to the washroom and then spends a good 10-15 minutes sitting on the potty reading books to himself. A while back, we tried to reduce that time by removing the books from the washroom. First night in, things are still taking a ridiculously long time, so I decide to check up on him (he's been known to take creative license with the use of toilet paper). I peek in the door and he's sitting there with his diaper in his hands unfolded in front of him like he's reading a newspaper and he's intently going over and "reading" all the pictures printed on the outside of the diaper. Sometimes you just can't win...
